Subroups: Committees, Task Forces, and Special Projects
(last updated 2016 December 6-10)
Subgroups of an ITC group give all members the opportunity to get personally involved in meaningful ways, forging a sense of belonging and oneness and purpose in everyone... and that spreads through the group to provide cohesion and stability.
As individual human beings, we each have some noble qualities that promote peace and order and wisdom and harmony, and we also have some savage qualities that lure us into conflict or chaos or ignorance or dissonance.
Examples?
Well, the purpose of subgroups in an ITC group is to give the group a well-rounded, noble personality… to boost the strengths and noble human qualities, while minimizing the shortcomings and savage human qualities as the group goes about its business of ITC research.
Subgroups are meant to attract members who resonate with the noble aims of a particular committee or task force or special project.
That way, the ITC group can glean the best qualities of each member, each working as part of a subgroup, to move the group forward in its mission.
Here are some of the kinds of subgroups that might be formed by an ITC group (and I’ll expand this list in the coming weeks as I think of other subgroups that might be useful):
(I’m focusing mostly on committees here, since they are probably permanent parts of an ITC group, whereas task forces and special projects would be set up as needed, then disbanded when the job is complete.)
As the relationship develops between the earthside group and the spirit group, various members of the spirit group might be attracted to the work of particular subgroups. I recall that researcher George Meek was working with an entertainment spirit group that included various departed Hollywood personalities and musicians. Our INIT group had various scientists (Konrad Lorenz, Thomas Edison, Henri Ste Clair de Ville, Albert Einstein... ) and various entertainment people (Hal Roach, George Cukor, Scott Joplin... ) working with us. It would have been natural for our INIT group to evolve into various subgroups so that kindred souls on both sides of the veil might be in communication with each other.
A 19th Century journalist named Arthur Beckwith was assigned by our Timestream spirit group to work closely with me... probably because of my family background in journalism.
So this is the way that ITC groups will probably evolve in the future... kindred spirits on both sides of the veil working together under the umbrella of the ITC group. And that is the ultimate purpose for subgroups in an ITC group.

Examples?
- Everyone thinks of Geoffrey as a brilliant physicist. His mind is often wrapped up in principles and theories and formulas that explain how the world really works. But when his wife starts telling him about her shopping experience or their kids’ problems at school, he glazes over and grows impatient. He’s being distracted from all the important ideas churning and coalescing in his mind. Geoffrey helps the world with his brilliance, but he’s kind of abrasive and eccentric, causing some frustration in his personal relationships. Everyone thinks of Geoff as an antisocial genius.
- Frank is often compelled to help a suffering animal or a stranger in need, but he forgets birthdays, anniversaries, and other dates that are important to family and friends. Frank is kind but not very thoughtful.
- Maria loves family and friends and plans celebrations for everyone, but she doesn’t concern herself with the endless, overwhelming needs and suffering of those outside her small circle. Maria is thoughtful and loving, but maybe a little stingy with her kindness.
- Thomas works hard but is disorganized and doesn’t mind clutter. He’s diligent but kind of messy.
- Katherine plans and organizes brilliantly and keeps things running smoothly, but avoids work that involves repetitive tasks, even important ones. People think of her as a good manager who’s kind of lazy.
- When Anna earns an award or wins a prize, her brother Bernard is proud and happy for Anna, while her sister Rebecca has mixed feelings; she’s somewhat proud and happy for Sis but secretly wishes that Rebecca herself had gotten it… in fact she feels that she herself is more deserving than Anna.
